Nico's sits on the Pacific Highway at Wyong, behind a red shopfront with a barber pole on either side of the window. Push the door open and the floor is black and white checkerboard, the counter is polished timber, and the walls are covered end to end with racing, cricket and football.
There is a proper cast iron barber chair, a bookshelf that has clearly been filled over years rather than styled, and a couch for whoever is next. Nothing about it is trying to be a concept. It is just a good barber shop that has been getting on with it for a long time.
Men's cuts, students and pensioners, beard trims, and a full face shave if you want the whole thing. Kids and older blokes are just as welcome as anyone else.
